From the Croft. Spring has almost sprung.

From the Croft. Spring has almost sprung.

Finally, with much relief we are beginning to see the days stretch now. By the end of this month we will have some much needed extra daylight. Last month we enjoyed a nice little rest down the road on the Isle of Harris for a couple of days, including a lovely visit to the stunning Isle of Harris distillery, it was absolutely brilliant!

On the croft we should begin our lambing season right about the start of spring on the 20th of March. We can't wait to see some new life emerge with spring lambs running and playing out on the crofts and are hopeful that the weather will also be kind to us during this time.

Back in the barn the still has been busy bubbling away, it's a perfect job for the winter days working away beside the lovely warm still with the rain and wind outside. We try to get as much done with all our distilling and bottling right up until lambing, as we will then have to put everything else on hold to make sure the livestock get all the care and attention they need. So fingers crossed the weather is mild and the sun shines to get all these little lambs up on their feet.
