Hello!  

We’re so sorry it’s taken us so long to post a blog update. It’s been pretty much organized chaos since we got started in July. We’ve been completely blown away by the amazing support from you all. Our first batch of 500 bottles sold out in just 3 weeks, meaning it was all hands to the pump to try and get more gin distilled and bottled here on the croft! It’s been incredible to see all the different places around the UK its reaching. 

In between the distilling and bottling duties, Karen and my sister Alison have also had two nice outings while I've been away at work. The first was a local event for Hebridean fine food and drink, which was held in the historical Stornoway town hall building. They had a great day out meeting and chatting to customers and friends throughout the day. This was our first ever outing to exhibit our gin, so as you can imagine there were a few days of nerves building up to it! But, on the day everything went better than we could have hoped for.  

Our next outing was very special, we had received a letter from the Scottish gin awards to say we had been selected as finalists in ‘’Distilled gin of the year’’ and ‘’London dry gin of the year’’. So, the bags were packed and of too the big smoke Glasgow they went for a galivant! It was great to meet up with lots of other distillers and producers from all over Scotland and they had a brilliant night. Unfortunately, we didn’t come home with the gold cup, but to have made the Scottish gin award finals after only been up and running for 2 months felt amazing. We will be back to try again next year for sure! 

So now bonfire night has past we can use the C-word. It’s beGINning to look a lot like Christmas here at Lews Distillery HQ and we’ve been flat out trying to get both our large bottles and Stornoway mini’s ready for the shops and posting out. We’ll also have some new additions available in the online store and local shops like our 70cl wooden engraved gift boxes and also some nice little miniature bottle multi gift packs.  

Once again, we can’t thank you enough for your support, it’s just been an incredible few months, and we can’t wait to see where next year takes us.
